Waiting for a reply on her father's name Name Tracy Duncan [email protected] Comment Hi I am trying to find information about my dad's service in Vietnam. His name is Robert Gary Trent. I have run into a few roadblocks. I have his DD-214 that quotes that he served 68 to 70. He came out of Fort Sill Oklahoma. His last unit was written as "A btry 2/27 artillery. And I have not been able to find any information about that unit. I have even found some master list of the field artillery units in Vietnam and that is not on any of them. I have however a jacket that he mailed me that had Phu Loi Vietnam 69-70 embroidered on the back of it with a map of Vietnam. I think he was either sent to Cam Ranh Bay or was injured in Cam Ranh Bay. I don't mean to be presumptuous but it seems like from the history I have of him that maybe he was in the 1/27 field artillery unit. I'm simply trying to map out his travels in Vietnam. I have requested info from the National Archives but simply got a list of the metals that he was entitled to. Many of them seem to match the 1/27 field artillery unit.i was hoping you might have some insight to my plight. Fort Sill does not take any requests or questions. I have his original purple heart. But I do not have his bronze star. Don't know if that would give any Search opportunity or not. I have not found any. Posted 10/14/19
