Arrived Vietnam: 11 July 1965 Departed Vietnam: 30 April 1972 Previous Station: Fort Campbell Authorized Strength: HHC - 1966 - 288; 1968 - 288; 1970 - 277 The 2nd Maintenance Battalion provided direct support maintenance, field service and maintenance supply support for equipment of non divisional units in the northern portion of I Corps Tactical Zone under the 26th General Support Group at Phu Bai after 20 September 1969. Previously the battalion was at Vung Tau under the 53rd General Support Group supporting III Corps Tactical Zone. It was part of the Ordinance Corps prior to July 1966. |
513th Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 18 October 1968 Departed Vietnam: 3 October 1969 Previous Station: Boston, MA via Fort Meade Authorized Strength: HHC - 1968 - 251 The 513th Maintenance Battalion was a Massachusetts Army Reserve unit that served at Phu Bai while in Vietnam. It provided direct support maintenance, supply and evacuation support in northern I Corps Tactical Zone. |
5th Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 28 April 1965 Departed Vietnam: 15 November 1970 Previous Station: Fort Sill Authorized Strength: HHC - 1966 - 249; 1968 - 351; 1970 - 277 The 5th Maintenance Battalion initially provided the nucleus of the U.S. Army Support Command, Qui Nhon upon arrival in Vietnam. It was at the time an Ordnance Battalion (changing designation in July 1966). The battalion handled direct support maintenance and repair parts supply units in the Qui Nhon - An Khe - Bong Son area. In 1968 the battalion was relocated to Phu Tai, where is became a component of the 593rd General Support Group on 1 June 1968. |
610th Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 2 December 1966 Departed Vietnam: 30 June 1971 Previous Station: Fort Lewes Authorized Strength: HHC - 1968 - 249; 1970 - 221 The 610th Maintenance Battalion served with the U.S. Army Support Command, Saigon at Phu Loi, coming under the control of the 29th General Support Group in 1969. It performed direct supply and maintenance support to nondivisional units in its area, and back-up support to the 1st Infantry Division. |
27th Maintenance Battalion (Divisional)
Arrived Vietnam: 15 September 1965 Departed Vietnam: 29 April 1971 Previous Station: Fort Benning Authorized Strength: Battalion - 1966 - 339; 1968 - 374; 1970 - 244 The 27th Maintenance Battalion was part of the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) and provided direct support maintenance and repair parts supply service, except for medical, communication security, aircraft, and airdrop items, in support of the division. |
701st Maintenance Battalion (Divisional)
Arrived Vietnam: 20 October 1965 Departed Vietnam: 6 April 1970 Previous Station: Fort Riley Authorized Strength: Battalion - 1966 - 762; 1968 - 854 The 701st Maintenance Battalion was part of the 1st Infantry Division in Vietnam. Due to the far-flung nature of divisional operations, the battalion's assets were often fragmented to provide the forward maintenance required for all units. |
62nd Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 7 January 1967 Departed Vietnam: 4 October 1972 Previous Station: Fort Bragg Authorized Strength: HHC - 1968 - 351; 1970 - 233 The 62nd Maintenance Battalion served the U.S. Army Support Command, Qui Nhon at Pleiku during its service in Vietnam, coming under the 45th General Support Group's control in February 1969. In 1971 it returned to Support Command jurisdiction and was posted to Qui Nhon on 5 March 1972. |
704th Maintenance Battalion (Divisional)

The 704th Maintenance Battalion was part of the 4th Infantry Division. The widely scattered divisional operations often meant the battalion was ordered to provide forward support at various locations for the different divisional elements. |

69th Maintenance Battalion (General Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 31 July 1966 Departed Vietnam: 11 May 1972 Previous Station: Fort Campbell Authorized Strength: HHD - 1966 - 288; 1968 - 288; 1970 - 277 The 69th Maintenance Battalion provided command, tactical, administration, training and technical operational supervision of the attached functional general support maintenance units. The battalion was located at Cam Ranh Bay under the U.S. Support Command, Cam Ranh Bay during its service in Vietnam. It was assigned to the army depot there on 1 November 1968. |
709th Maintenance Battalion (Divisional)
Arrived Vietnam: 26 January 1967 Departed Vietnam: 20 August 1969 Previous Station: Fort Riley Authorized Strength: 1968 - 854 *Maintenance forward support company only. The 709th Maintenance Battalion was part of the 9th Infantry Division in Vietnam. Often its elements were sent to diverse forward locations to provide required maintenance for the scattered divisional units. |
79th Maintenance Battalion (General Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 11 July 1965 Departed Vietnam: 26 February 1973 Previous Station: Fort Bliss Authorized Strength: HHD - 1966 - 52; 1968 - 52; 1970 - 40 The 79th Maintenance Battalion was originally assigned as an ordnance battalion (it changed title in July 1966) at Tan Son Nhut. Attached to the 506th Field Depot, the battalion was assigned to the 29th Support Group at Long Binh in September 1967. It was later reassigned to the 53rd General Support Group on 1 April 1967 and after September directly to the U.S. Army Support Command, Saigon. It became the central working force for army withdrawal from both Military Regions 3 and 4, handling depot retrograde and equipment transfers. 86th Maintenance Battalion (General Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 23 November 1966 Departed Vietnam: 23 December 1971 Previous Station: Fort Devens Authorized Strength: HHD - 1968 - 52; 1970 - 55 The 86th Maintenance Battalion provided was deployed to the Cha Rang Valley upon arrival in Vietnam. It remained at that location throughout its service in Vietnam under the U.S. Army Support Command, Qui Nhon. 185th Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 2 August 1965 Departed Vietnam: 21 October 1972 Previous Station: Fort Hood Authorized Strength: HHC - 1966 - 249; 1968 - 249; 1970 - 265 The 185th Maintenance Battalion was originally an ordnance battalion located at Long Binh under the 29th General Support Group, where it remained throughout the rest of its service in Vietnam. It provided supply and maintenance support to all nondivisional units in the Long Binh - Bien Hoa complex. 188th Maintenance Battalion (Direct Support)
Arrived Vietnam: 19 November 1966 Departed Vietnam: 8 December 1967 Previous Station: Fort Meade Authorized Strength: HHC - 1967 - 251 The 188th Maintenance Battalion was under the 29th General Support Group providing support at Long Giao and eastern III Corps Tactical Zone. Its assets were converted by the group into the 732nd Maintenance Battalion formed in late 1967 when the 188th Maintenance Battalion moved to Chu Lai. 227th Maintenance Battalion (General Support)

782nd Maintenance Battalion (Divisional) Arrived Vietnam: 18 February 1968 Departed Vietnam: 1 May 1968 Previous Station: Fort Bragg Authorized Strength: 1968 - 159 Company A of the 782nd Maintenance Battalion was part of the 82nd Airborne Division's 3rd Brigade Task Force in Vietnam. The 801st Maintenance Battalion was part of the 101st Airborne Division (Airmobile). Company A had provided assets to the separated 1st Brigade at Phan Rang since July 1965. |
