52nd Ordnance Group (Ammunition)Arrived Vietnam: 10 March 1966
Departed Vietnam: 20 October 1967 Previous Station: Fort Bragg Authorized Strength: HHC 1966 - 117 The 52nd Ordnance Group was established to provide command and administration, tactical and technical supervision over special and conventional ammunition and guided-missile support companies as well as to operate an EOD (explosive ordnance disposal) center, supervise the supply and maintenance of all ammunition stocks including special ammunition and missile items, direct rear-area damage control and security activities. However, upon arrival the group was used as the nucleus of the Directorate of Ammunition at 1st Logistical Command, and ammunition units were not assigned or attached to the group's control. Instead, they were assigned to a general support group or field depot command or directly to army support commands in Vietnam as separate battalions. Thus, command and control of ammunition units in Vietnam was placed in the hands of ordnance battalion headquarters and headquarters companies and directors of ammunition at each of the area logistics commands. 60th Ordnance Group
