The 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry ("Bastogne Bulldogs") initially entered Vietnam as part of the 1st Brigade, 101st Airborne Division and was parachutist qualified. By 26 August 1968 the battalion was reorganized as purely airmobile infantry.
