Departed Vietnam: March 14, 1973 Previous Station: Fort Benning Authorized Strength: 1966 - 223; 1968 - 223; 1971 - 73 The 11th Aviation Group was organic to the 1st Cavalry Division (Airmobile) where it primary controlled the 227th, 228th, and 229th Aviation Battalions. It was co located with the division in Vietnam until the division departed, at which time the group was assigned to the 1st Aviation Brigade on April 10, 1971 and moved to Da Nang. 12th Aviation Group

Departed Vietnam: March 16, 1973 Previous Station: Fort Benning The 12th Aviation Group was formed from the U.S. Army Aviation Group (Prov) which had been formed in April 1965 and was located at Tan Son Nhut until June 29, 1966 when it moved to Long Binh. Before January 1968 the group provided aviation support to both III and IV CTZ under II FFV. Aferward, it supported III CTZ. The 11th, 13th, 145th, 210th, 214th, 222nd, 269th, and 308th Aviation Battalions as well as the 3d Squadron, 17th Cavalry severed with this group.
